Dr Paul Doolan is a Medical Physicist in the Department of Medical Physics at the German Oncology Center, Limassol. He graduated from Warwick University in 2009 and undertook the UK IPEM training scheme at the Royal Free Hospital, London, passing with Merit in 2011. Following this, he completed a PhD in Proton Therapy at University College London in 2014. He spent a year-long sabbatical at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, gaining clinical experience in proton therapy and performing proton physics research. The key paper from his PhD research, published in Physics in Medicine and Biology, was featured on MedicalPhysicsWeb and was one of the journal’s top ten downloads in 2015, with over 4,500 downloads. He has lectured at University College London on the undergraduate physics and post-graduate MSc programmes and has successfully supervised three students. Following his research studies in 2015, he returned to the clinic at University College London Hospital, working as a radiotherapy and proton therapy physicist and became state registered as a Clinical Scientist. He joined the German Oncology Center in June 2017.
